Garuda revamps frequent flier programme

Garuda Indonesia has expanded its frequent flier programme.

Rewards programme members can now buy miles, extend the expiry of miles and maintain their Garuda Frequent Flier tier while continuing to earn points when flying with Garuda Indonesia and its partner airlines, hotels and tour operators.

Uun Setiawan, vice president Australia, New Zealand and South West Pacific, said the new options were the start of a GFF revamp.

"With seven tiers within the GFF programme, passengers have a growing range of opportunities to be rewarded for travelling with Garuda Indonesia," he said.

Garuda Indonesia recently enhanced partnership agreements with several travel and tourism operators, including a new frequent traveller programme with Swiss Belhotel and new codeshare agreement with Indian airline, Jet Airways.

Following Garuda Indonesia's recent cooperation with Air France and KLM, GFF members will now earn GFF Mileage when flying with either of the two European airlines.

Surprisingly Affordable Luxury Travel in 2014

Competition in the luxury market has made high-end travel affordable whether you explore the  Mekong Delta from a trendy eco-lodge, discover local culture and cuisine, indulge yourself at a spa, opt for a leisurely cruise from Saigon to Siem Reap, or discover Southeast Asia's last frontier, Myanmar.

You just need to decide where to go. Here are five ideas to get you started:

Mekong Lodge
Luxury travel is all about the experience, and many small hotels offer unique experiential travel for discerning travelers. From the Mekong Lodge, an eco-resort at the heart of the Mekong Delta, you can explore one of the most beautiful areas in the region, still mainly untouched by modernization.

The 2-day Mekong tour starts from US$211 pp with private transfer from Saigon.

Island Experience in Con Dao
The next upcoming destination in Vietnam is the Con Dao archipelago, with its intimate villa resort and unspoiled beaches. Here you can enjoy a moonlit dinner at the water's edge, a private cookery class in your villa, hike in search of local wildlife, watch turtles nesting, or simply relax amidst the natural beauty of this Vietnamese paradise.
A 4-day Con Dao Escape costs US$ 2832 per couple including return air fare from Saigon.

The first Aman in remote Vietnam

The resort's design feels more like a gracious, private residence rather than a hotel. The staffs are very welcoming and treat you like house guests, centuries-old antiques and contemporary furnishings adorn public spaces and the 31 individual guest pavilions and five villas are strategically tucked in the forest, ensuring plenty of privacy and space. Discover more at amanresorts.com

Banyan Tree Lang Co

Vietnam is on the ‘best spa holidays in the world’ list  and one of our favourites is the Banyan Tree Lang Co, a sanctuary for the senses when you spoil yourself at the spa which has an exotic menu of treatments. Visit banyantree.com

Leisurely River Cruise Saigon to Siem Reap
Several luxury riverboats offer leisurely 8-day cruises between Saigon and Siem Reap - the onboard experience is second to none, the food excellent and the journey along the legendary Mekong River memorable.

Mystical Myanmar
Myanmar has been hailed as one of the best places to visit in 2014 and as a tourist hotspot, our advice is to book early.
Our 8-day Myanmar Essential tour starts from US$1,932 pp in a private party of 7 people.

New Cruises and Resorts Bump Up Luxury Tourism in Vietnam

Luxury tourism on the rise, Vietnam adds deluxe accommodation and experiential travel

We hear it over and over again. Today's luxury travelers want the world’s most luxury travel authentic experiences and pampering but they also want off-the-beaten-track adventures with impeccable service.

That's why Vietnam is shaping up as one of the most attractive destinations in Asia, just behind China, according to a recent survey of 1200 travel experts during WTM London 2013.

Many luxury travel experts say Vietnam is now one of the top ten destinations in Asia, with luxury the fastest-growing segment. The beauty of Vietnam is that it continues to evolve without diluting its cultural heritage, achieving that delicate balance between modernity and the past.

Pham Ha, founder and CEO of Luxury Travel Ltd, one of the country's first luxury travel and tour operators said "today's luxury travelers want to be entertained and stimulated, rather than simply pampered, and Vietnam offers a magical mix of tropical beaches, post-colonial charm, a string of World Heritage Sites, stunning inland scenery, world-renowned cuisine and a home-grown flair for hospitality. Vietnam has all to offer,"

The luxury traveler is being tempted with new boutique hotels, experiences and tours, such as flying to Halong Bay from Hanoi by helicopter. Vietnam's tourism infrastructure has improved dramatically and with iconic colonial properties like the Sofitel Legend Metropole in Hanoi, a fast-growing list of modern luxury and spa destinations and recently opened golf courses, the launch of luxury yacht and river cruise services ensure stress-free journeys away from the busy roads. Such improvements account for the the country's recent growth in popularity.

Additionally, Pham Ha says, "Vietnam is still a relative travel bargain, even for those who don't normally concern themselves with cost." Travelers on a high-end itinerary can expect to pay from $3,000 to $3,500 per person for a seven-day tour, although many are priced at more than $1,000 per day, per traveler.

Experiential Travel
So what are some of Ha's top hotels and activities in Vietnam? He says his personal favorites are Six Senses Ninh Van Bay Nha Trang and an overnight cruise on Halong Bay, one of the country's highlights.

"The top ten that seem to leave travelers in awe are the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi Hotel, La Residence Hue Hotel and Spa, Banyan Tree Lang Co, InterContiental Sun Peninsular Danang,  the Nam Hai in Hoi An, the Park Hyatt Saigon Hotel, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay Nha Trang, Princess d’Annam Phan Thiet,  Six Senses Con Dao and Amanoi," he said.

The next upcoming destination in Vietnam is the archipelago of Con Dao with its intimate villa resort and undeveloped beaches. "Six Senses Con Dao has everything you might want, like a much larger resort, but with fewer rooms and suites, guaranteeing exclusivity."

"The 50 private-pool villas offer space and privacy along with an uncompromising standard of luxury. Villas are either Ocean View or Ocean Front (single-level and duplex) offering a choice of one, three and four bedrooms. There is a great staff-to-guest ratio, which means that there is always someone around to take care of your needs, whether it is an extra towel at the pool or a late-night snack. And the staff are locals and make an effort to make you feel like one, too, while of course being mindful of providing elite and personalized service."

The first Aman in Vietnam in remote Vietnam
The beach town of Nha Trang is a popular beach heaven for holidaymakers, and now just 90 minutes north of Cam Ranh Airport is Vinh Hy Bay where the Amanoi, the latest property by the uber-luxurious Aman Resorts, is located on a secluded beach. Tucked away in a national park, Amanoi, which opened in September 2013, nestles within 100 acres of lush tropical landscape, a tranquil oasis with breathtaking views.

The resort's design feels more like a gracious, private residence rather than a hotel. The staff are very welcoming and treat you like house guests, centuries-old antiques and contemporary furnishings adorn public spaces and the 31 individual guest pavilions and five villas are strategically tucked in the forest, ensuring plenty of privacy and space.

Twin Luxury Properties at Laguna Lang Co
It is located in Lang Co Town, in the central province of Thua Thien Hue, which is about 1.5 hours from Phu Bai Airport in Hue or a 30 minute drive from Danang Airport.  It’s truly special, framed by three kilometres of beach and lush countryside. I recommend it for it pristine beauty, tropical jungles and rugged mountain peaks.
Plus, it is an ideal base for tourists to explore UNESCO-recognised world heritage sites such as the ancient imperial capital of Hue, Hoi An ancient town and the relics of My Son.
This unique holiday destination is a world unto itself, comprising the Banyan Tree and Angsana branded hotels and resorts, award-winning spas, convention facilities and an array of recreational offerings including a championship golf course. The 18-hole, par-71 course provide a wonderful golfing experience to both expert players and beginners alike.
We have visited our destinations, and have personally checked out the finest hotels, resorts and restaurants designed for discriminating travelers. We sell our clients our real experiences. In fact, I am always doing that, but I recently came back from Laguna Lang Co, and I am very excited to send guests.”  Said Pham Ha

Halong Bay goes upscale with enhanced safety features

Officially recognized as one of the New Seven Natural Wonders of the World in 2012 (and among CNN's top five tropical island paradises), Halong Bay is a must-see on anyone’s itinerary to Vietnam, thanks to its turquoise water and thousands of dramatic limestone islands. Still used for fishing, whole families live in floating villages that are easily visited. Some will even take you out on a fishing trip.

The best way to appreciate this magical scene is from a boat, leisurely cruising between the karst cliffs which loom like fairytale castles, complete with rocky spires and hidden caves. The latest upscale cruise development in Halong Bay, Starlight Cruise of Oriental Sails Ltd, has a new luxury cruise ship with 32 sophisticated and tastefully designed en-suite cabins, a spa, restaurant, bar, two lounges, library, gift shop, wine cellar and private dining room with hot tubs and a mini-golf course on the atrium deck.

Starlight Cruise’s cabins are very spacious, all with Halong Bay views even from the jacuzzi and bathroom. Its outstanding facilities and excellent safety record, because of its enhanced safety features, make it an excellent choice for leisure travelers and MICE groups who want to experience Halong Bay in style.” commented Pham Ha after his recent experience on board.

Garuda Indonesia introduces “Visa on Board” on its Guangzhou-Jakarta flights

Garuda Indonesia announced that the airline now also provides Immigration on Board services for passengers on its Guangzhou – Jakarta flights. Visa on Board from China has been extended earlier on Garuda’s Shanghai-Jakarta flights since May this year.

Previously, “the Immigration on Board” service has already been introduced in six other Garuda services, among others : Tokyo (Narita) – Jakarta, Seoul – Jakarta, Sydney – Jakarta, Tokyo (Narita) – Denpasar (Bali) , Osaka – Denpasar and Sydney – Denpasar.

“Immigration on Board” is an immigration document handling service that provides “Visa On Arrival” to passengers on board a Garuda Indonesia flight with the assistance from immigration officers designated on the Garuda flight to Jakarta. Garuda Indonesia provides the service in collaboration with the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.

To obtain the Immigration on Board service, passengers must first purchase a visa on arrival voucher at Garuda Indonesia check-in counters at airport of departure. During the flight, two immigration officers will conduct passport checks and issue visa on arrival. Passengers who have been given the entry visa will also receive a special card that must be returned to the ground immigration officers upon arrival (at Soekarno-Hatta) before leaving the airport. The immigration on board service gives passengers the freedom to bypass queues at the immigration counters and have a more pleasant travel experience in Indonesia.

Mesmerizing Bach Ma National Park from Danang

Located midway between Hue and Danang, Bach Ma National Park covers an area of 22,000 hectares. Home to a wide variety of animals and plants, the park is well-known for its biodiversity.
The weather here is like the weather in Dalat or Sapa due to its high level compared with the sea. Coming to visit the park, day trippers will have chance to discover the beautiful landscape and natural wonder, while they enjoy an adventure of the spirit.
At 8:00 am you will start the tour to Bach Ma from your hotel. After about an hours driving on National Road, you will come to Cau Hai town, turning onto the road to Bach Ma which is sinuous and gives you a stunning, panoramic view of Lang Co and Phuc Loc Lagoon. You will be dropped at the Do Quyen Bach Ma Villa, where you will start to trek to the summit through a tropical evergreen forest. You will take a rest and get some fresh air on the top of mountain, watching clouds, sky and waterfall, as well as admiring the spectacular views north to Hue and south to Lang Co Beach. ” Says Hiep Ha, Danang Office’s Operation Manager of Luxury Travel Ltd.
Travelers will take a nature walk through the rain forest, heading to five beautiful cascading lakes. From lake number 1 to lake number 5, you essentially climb down alongside waterfalls on very slippery rocks and tree roots using ropes. This being the case, travelers should prepare well for this trip and a lunch box should be prepared as well as they will be challenged and work up an appetite
After passing the five lakes, travelers will continue trekking for 1km in the forest, before encountering the next challenge, which is to climb down and up a hill with 200 steps to reach the waterfall. Finally, travelers will reach the top of the waterfall, Do Quyen (Rhododendron) and admire the beautiful views from the top.
Bach Ma National Park is a good day trip for holidaymakers based in Danang, Hue or Hoian or many resorts in Lang Co. It is also ideal for travelers who want to go off the beaten track on the way from Danang to Hue. For those who like nature, wild life, walking and a sense of adventure, this trip is a good choice.” Adds Ha Van Hiep
Bach Ma day tour price start at 69 USD for the private party of 6 people, including private pick up and drop off services, entrances fees, lunch box, water, fruits and English speaking tour guide. Tour departs daily from 8 am or 1 pm for afternoon option. Discover more at www.luxurytravelvietnam.com

The new way to visit the tunnels is very convenient, taking just 1 hour and 15 minutes to get from Ho Chi Minh City, with NO traffic jams! Saigon’s based daytrippers can admire the perspective of the HCMC skyline as they cruise upstream on the new yacht.
Many travelers go by road to Cu Chi, but you will take a half day excursion by waterway to the famous tunnels, which stretched for over 200 km and became legendary during the 1960s when they played a vital part in the American War.” Says Pham Ha, Founder and CEO of Luxury Travel Ltd.
Your adventure starts from Bach Dang Pier, and you will go on a scenic tour to discover the natural beauty and Vietnamese lifestyle along the river bank. Binh Duong Province is on the right hand side and Ho Chi Minh City on the left as you begin cruising through the frontier and you willed be amazed that just a few minutes from Bustling Saigon, there lies a peaceful countryside and amazing life in the world of water.”
The boat will continue to Cu Chi (Ben Dinh) which now is a popular spot for both Vietnamese and foreign tourists. Take a short walk to the “iron triangle” of Cu Chi. Travelers will have plenty of time to explore the tunnel system and watch a video about them, which includes commentary from former soldiers to help travelers better understand the history of the area.
In their heyday, the tunnels were a functioning underground city, including numerous trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers & kitchens. After an hour and a half visiting the tunnels, travelers will go on boat back to Saigon where the tour ends.
Tour price start at 98 USD for the private party of 6 people, including private pick up and drop off services, entrances fees, water, fruits, boat trip and English speaking tour guide. Tour departs daily from 8 am or 1 pm for afternoon option. Discover more at www.luxurytravelvietnam.com

We nine friends finalized ‘’Bonsai Dinner Cruise on Saigon River with the ‘Luxury Travels’ in Ho Chi Ming City in Oct. 2013.

The booking included hotel pick-up & drop. We found the Luxury Travel to be a very reliable Company having rich experienced in organizing tourism.

We enjoyed the 2 hours cruise on the Dragon boat with gastronomic moment, soft and classic music; singing, band, traditional dances displaying rich culture of Vietnam.

The high-light of the evening was the Magic Show; we were thoroughly entertained by Mr. Hun’g the Magician showing incredible tricks with unbelievable acumen & amusing showmanship.

We have seen many magic shows but this one is incomparable & unique; it has to be seen to believe. I must congratulate Mr. Hun’g for his excellent talent;

I’m sure with his huge bundle of tricks he is an indispensable asset for the Cruise Company. I’m compelled to visit the ship again just to enjoy the magic show performed by Mr. Hun’g.

Luxury Travel, the leading Asian specialist to showcase its luxury expertise and responsible tourism at WTM London 2013

Vietnam-based Luxury Travel (http://www.luxurytravels.asia/) is attending both WTM and ILTM to promote luxury travel products at World Travel Market London 2013 (WTM) from November 4 to 7.
This year, Luxury Travel has expanded the size of its stand which will be located just in front of the Vietnam Tourism Board and Vietnam Airlines stand. Luxury Travel is attending both WTM and A Taste of Luxury at ILTM,is an official supporter of World Responsible Day at WTM and has launched several new responsible tours.
According to Pham Ha, founder of Luxury Travel, the UK has been a great market for the company, whose products appeal to British tastes and preferences, particularly tailor-made tours and the two set departure tours on offer. The company enjoyed over 200% growth from the UK in the first 9 month of 2013, compared with the same period last year, partly because of favourable exchange rates.
Luxury Travel has increased the number of private small groups that it served, primarily with tailor-made holidays. Luxury travel is not just about limos and five-star hotels, but creating memorable experiences and Luxury Travel ensure that its guests feel part of the place rather than a casual observer, the authentic experience being particularly popular with visitors from Britain. Getting off-the-beaten track, relaxing on the beach at less visited places such as Con Dao and Phu Quoc as well as combining Vietnam with visits to Cambodia, Laos or Myanmar are great favourites with the UK market.
Vietnam is appealing to British visitors because of it's safety, affordable prices, authenticity, lovely weather and convenient direct flights with Vietnam Airlines. The past few years have seen the completion of many luxurious resorts such as Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa, Intercontinental Peninsula Danang Sun Spa and Six Senses Con Dao and the increased choice and deluxe brands have proved a great hit with the British.
Mr Pham Ha, Mr Richard Parks and Ms Anita Sach,Luxury Travel's reps in the UK, will be attending both ITLM and WTM 2013; travel trade professionals wanting to learn more about the company, learn how to sell Indochina to the most sophisticated travellers or discuss a fam trip, can book an appointment in advance with them at phamha@luxurytravels.asia or drop by stand AS587
